If you’re regular visitor to my blog, Facebook or Instagram, or you know us in person it will not have escaped your notice that we have been down for a while.
Christmas day the little guy had hand, foot and mouth. Then, January he had two D&V bugs (one of which he shared with me), a horrible stinking cold (again, which he shared with me), and now he has chickenpox.
Put simply, we’re done. We’re sick of being sick. We’ve basically spent the majority of 2017 in quarantine and then, during the times we have been out we’ve caught our next virus. In short, 2017 has not been kind to us.
The truth is, that I know I can do it. This is not a post on how hard it is (although it is) or how we’re not coping. My Mummy friends are saying, “you can do it…”, “you’ve got this…” and that is certainly the truth. I may be going a little crazy with cabin fever, I may be sad for my poor kid but I am resilient and we are getting through it. We can do it, but it’s just not very fun.
Perhaps what I need is simply a short moment (whilst the little guy naps) just to wallow in self-pity as I dunk my twirl in a cup of tea*
Mums, you’ve got this. And if your quarantine includes watching The Lorax (kid’s new obsession!) a million times, and throwing a ball up and down a step for many, many long minutes, or staring at the many piles of washing and dirt building up whilst you’re stuck with your cuddly kid on top of you, you will cope. You will be able to leave the house again one day and you will get back to normal life eventually.
Right, better now. On with the chickenpox!
*Twirls are terrible for dunking in tea. It’s too late for me now but be warned. Go for a Wispa or a good old fashioned bar of chocolate instead. Unless you’re not a dunker, in that case I don’t know what to suggest for you, I don’t know how you can enjoy chocolate or biscuits!
