(#AD-gifted The lovely people at SPCK publishing sent me a free copy of this book to review if I wanted to. Everything in this review is my own, honest opinion.)
The start of a new year always feels like a good prompt to take time to pause and reflect. I love the opportunity to take a moment (if I manage to find one) to reflect, and I also love writing a good list, so when I saw the format of Faith Lists I was interested.
Faith Lists is the kind of book I would definitely pick up in a bookshop to flick through. It’s beautifully illustrated by Olivia Holden. The illustrations completely drew me in, and the font is absolutely lovely (anyone else get really taken in by a pretty font?)
Each double page has an illustration and a lined list page.
Some of my favourites included:
- List your favourite ways to connect with God
- List the best pieces of wisdom you’ve heard, read or learnt yourself
- List the qualities that you admire most in your church leaders
- List the reasons for your faith in God
- List the ways in which God might be asking you to step our of your comfort zone
- List your favourite lyrics from hymns or worship songs
Those are just a few of over fifty lists! I find when I take time to stop and reflect I often focus on things I need to get done or find myself thinking ahead in terms of my career, money or family goals so I loved stopping to think about my spiritual life instead.
I am still torn as to whether I keep this book for myself or give it away as it would make a really lovely gift. I think I will probably be buying myself a copy and giving away this and others as gifts. It is a beautiful book and would be a great way to start the year with some spiritual focus whether for yourself or as a gift for someone else.
You can buy it here from SPCK (and it looks like it’s on special offer at the moment!)
